Ahora si, ahora la temporada ha terminado de manera definitiva con la final de la Champions League del día sábado. Una final que si me preguntan el claro y obvio favorito era el Manchester City, no solo por el camino que lograron hacer a lo largo de esta competición sino en todas las que participaron y lógicamente ganaron. Campeones de la Premier superando al Arsenal, quien por momentos parecía que podía dar la sorpresa y llevarse el titulo, campeones de la FA Cup superando a su rival de ciudad, el Manchester United, en una final en la que Gündoğan fue la estrella absoluta haciendo no uno sino dos goles de volea y finalmente campeones de la Champions League superando, en un partido bastante modesto y gris, a los italianos del Inter de Milan.

Evidentemente el City no es el primer equipo en ganar el triplete, esa hazaña la han hecho unos pocos siendo el Bayern Múnich el último en conseguirlo en la temporada 19/20. En esa lista hay equipos como el Barcelona con Luis Enrique y Pep, el propio Inter por allá en el 2010 de la mano de Mourinho y mucho más atrás el Manchester United, PSV, Ajax y hasta el Celtic. Pero entre esa lista hay un solo nombre que destaca, el único en la historia que ha sido capaz de lograrlo por partida doble y con dos equipos distintos, el mejor entrenador del mundo en mi humilde opinión, Pep Guardiola. Y es que finalmente el City, después de más de mil millones de dólares invertidos a lo largo de los años, pudieron ser capaces de llevarse la tan ansiada "orejona" y hacer historia.

Pero el camino ha estado lejos de ser fácil y un ejemplo de eso fue el partido del sábado. En la teoría se suponía que ese juego debía de ser un trámite para el City por lo visto a lo largo de la temporada y sobre todo por la forma en como avanzaron a la final pasándole por encima de una manera muy superior al Real Madrid. El Inter tampoco es que es un rival sencillo pero no estaba a la altura del City o eso uno creía. En lo que comenzó la final nos dimos cuenta que el partido se jugó bajo los términos del Inter, siento que el club italiano estaba cómodo con la forma en como se estaba jugando la final, esa de esperar y salir al contraataque. La cosa es que los dirigidos por Pep no hicieron su mejor juego, recuerdo que el primer tiempo fue uno de los más aburridos que puedo recordar en los últimos años, aquello parecía un partido de la primera fase cuando un equipo está eliminado y el otro en octavos.

El Manchester no fue la maquina a la que nos tiene acostumbrados, no hubo ese dominio ofensivo, Haaland no está pasando por su mejor momento de hecho este partido fue bastante malo para él, Bernardo Silva hizo unas cosas pero tampoco fue determinante y bueno ni hablar de la maldición de De Bruyne, un jugador que en las dos finales que ha jugado se ha tenido que ir lesionado. Con esto entró Foden quien la verdad fue un poco más revulsivo y vertical pero que aún así no fue suficiente para que el desempeño fuera bastante bajo. Y es que esa primera parte tan solo hubo una llegada del City en las botas de Haaland que Onana supo resolver sin problemas.

Ya en el segundo tiempo la cosa fue un poco igual, el City nunca supo darle la vuelta al partido, nunca pudo descifrarlo, se le veía hasta medio incomodo en cancha por lo que el gol no quedó otra forma de hacerlo que de media distancia con un derechazo de Rodri, de los jugadores más influyentes del City últimamente, el cual finalmente batió al portero del Inter. Fue una joya de gol si me le preguntan, la forma de pegarlo fue muy top. A partir de acá el Inter tuvo que apretar un poco más la marcha con la entrada de Lukaku quien lastimosamente tampoco hizo nada. Una carambola en el área en donde Di Marco y el propio belga fueron los protagonistas y en donde no pudieron hacer que el balón entrara al arco. En lo personal el atacante de Bélgica no me gusta y nunca me ha gustado, mucha potencia pero no es constante ni estable.

Un titulo que supone ser el numero 35 en la carrera del catalán y que deja claro sus capacidades como técnico. En su momento pensaba que Mourinho era el más top o el propio Ancelotti que lo ha ganado a todo a donde ha ido pero sin duda me quedo con Pep ya que no es solo por los títulos ganados sino por la forma de juego, la mentalidad, lo que deja en los jugadores, el estilo, la filosofía; estas son cosas que los otros dos técnicos no suelen deja huella.

Lo logrado por el City esta temporada es mágico, siempre es grato ver a un equipo llevarse el tan ansiado triplete porque denota un dominio pleno sobre todos los demás en todas las competiciones, nos habla de que la forma y el estado es real y no solo pasajero o como a veces pasa que las cosas van bien en la liga pero no es Champions y viceversa. En este caso el City fue un verdugo contra todos, no tuvo piedad. A pesar de los bajos números del noruego Haaland en los últimos partidos a lo largo de la temporada fue una bestia y una pieza determinante para la consagración de este club. el liderazgo de Gündoğan, la magia de Silva, la visión de De Bruyne y la solidez defensiva se unieron para hacer que este City sea de los mejores equipos que se han visto jugar en los últimos años.

No fue fácil para el City llegar a este punto, fueron muchos años de construcción e inversión pero al final es como se dice por ahí: uno recoge lo que cosecha. El Manchester campeón de todo y ganador del triplete por primera vez en su historia.
