Heartless

Lucifer walked among the corpses until he spotted a living body.

Excited, he rushed to its aid. He gave him a drink and wiped the blood from his face. But on inspecting his wounds, he discovered to his horror that a spear had pierced his chest.

-Your heart is broken. You should be dead, but you still live," Lucifer murmured, dumbfounded.

The dying man smiled faintly and replied:

-Perhaps it is because I no longer have a heart. I lost it long ago in a battle more bloody than this one: the fight against my inner demons. Since then, only a supernatural force has kept me alive.
