Conjunctivitis or pink eye, popularly know as Apollo in Nigeria.....

It is the inflammation of the outermost layer of the white part of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid. It makes the eye appear pink or reddish.

Causes
Virus, Bacteria , Allergy

Symptoms
It is followed by symptoms like pain, burning, scratchiness, or itchiness. The affected eye may have increased tears or be "stuck shut" in the morning. Swelling of the white part of the eye may also occur. Itching of the eye is more common in cases due to allergies. Conjunctivitis can affect one or both eyes.

Spread
By skin-to-skin contact (handshakes or hugs).
By touching a contaminated surface (blanket or doorknob).
It can not be spread by just looking at the infected person

Window period
From experience, this infection is common during the dry season

Prevention
Wash hands regularly

Treatment
It often resolves on its own in 4days -1 week , but treatment can speed the recovery process.
Allergic conjunctivitis can be treated with antihistamines.
Bacterial conjunctivitis can be treated with antibiotic eye drops

Note
Using urine as a remedy to conjunctivitis is dangerous and not advisable as it contains a lot of bacteria, and then introducing this into the eye, especially the children who haven't built up their immune system yet, you will end up with serious eye conditions, not the least of which is gonorrhoea. Chlamydia is another common one.
