Cuando finalizó el 2020, casi todos esperamos que el 2021 fuera mucho mejor, pero solo porque era realmente difícil pensar en que podía ser peor. La verdad, es que mejoró en comparación, al menos en cuestiones de salud. Afortunadamente en Cuba pudimos vacunarnos contra el Covid, y cuando me enfermé en agosto, fue completamente asintomático y sin secuelas.
When 2020 ended, almost all of us expected 2021 to be a lot better, but only because it was really hard to think that it could be worse. The truth is that it improved in comparison, at least in terms of health. Fortunately in Cuba we were able to get vaccinated against Covid, and when I got sick in August, it was completely asymptomatic and without sequelae.
No obstante, muchas actividades se vieron relegadas por el temor al contagio, entre las más difíciles de las que fueron pospuestas, fue visitar a la familia con personas vulnerables. En mi caso personal: un bebé. El bebé de mi primo. El pequeño Dylan. Solo podíamos verlo en fotos, pues su mamá no se había podido vacunar aún por estar embarazada y haber dado a luz recientemente y mucho menos él, tan pequeño y frágil. A pesar de todos los cuidados por parte de la familia, Dylan enfermó de Covid 19.
However, many activities were relegated by fear of contagion, among the most difficult of those that were postponed, was visiting family with vulnerable people. In my personal case: a baby. My cousin's baby. Little Dylan. We could only see him in photos, because his mother had not been able to get vaccinated yet because she was pregnant and had recently given birth, much less he, so small and fragile. Despite all the care from the family, Dylan fell ill of Covid 19.
Con apenas tres meses de nacido, fue ingresado por ser PCR positivo junto a su mamá que también enfermó y se puso muy malita. Afortunadamente, ambos lograron rebasar la enfermedad sin secuelas. Ayer además, significativo en mi familia, pues era aniversario del fallecimiento de mi abuela materna. Y pudimos compartir mi prima y su hija, mi primo y su esposa, mi mamá y yo, anécdotas graciosas sobre mi abuelita, y cantamos canciones infantiles que aprendimos de ella y que ahora son cantadas al integrante más joven de mi familia.
