Day 2 of vacation! The photo above is from Horseshoe Bend in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. A very cool spot we visited today.
We started the day in Zion National Park.
And followed the highway that heads East, seeing lots of cool mountains and rock formations.
Ther is a 1 mile long tunnel to the east side of the park. Here we can see a window in the tunnel.
And this is the window from the inside!
We stopped to check out a narrow valley that looked cool from above-
And also checked out the Checkerboard Mesa.
After leaving the park we stopped to grab few geocache. This one was in a cedar tree.
And this one taught us about dinosaurs!
Lake Powell was very pretty-
And the Glen Canyon Bridge over the Colorado River was cool to check out.
Then we hooked out to Horseshoe Bend - first photo of this post- before heading to Flagstaff, AZ for the night.
We drove about 130 miles through the Navajo Indian Reservation. You have to come down off the high desert through a narrow gap. It was pretty cool to go through because the land below was bathed in the late afternoon light.
The gap-
The view from the overlook-
As we got to the lower plains, there were some neat hoodoos and other formations along the road.
And then slowly the sun set-
We got into Flagstaff well after dark and are looking forward to some sleep!
