Everybody needs their own space. Some place we can go to be alone. Most of our work gets done when we're alone, we come up with new ideas, we can put the pedal to the metal, no distractions. It's really important to carve out some little niche or secret location for yourself. Over summer, that place was the garage for me. I have most of my workout stuff there, I can play guitar at night and not worry about waking the rest of the house up.

Once winter hit, that option was basically out. It's way too damn cold out there, so I was using the kitchen for yoga and the front room for meditation. But I wanted something more secluded, so today I partially set up this room in the basement. I know, it looks more like a prison than a meditation haven, but I already got some yoga in and getting my late night writing in too. I think it will be a great place to meditate, write, workout, and brainstorm new ideas. I'm planning on making it a little easier on the eyes too.

Where's your secret spot, the place you go to alone?
