Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. On average, more than 1,200 people live in Bangladesh per square kilometer. But unfortunately, out of these 1,200 people, not even 12 people are aware. Ignorance has surrounded us in such a way that it seems that this is our culture. We are also nurturing that culture very perfectly.
Three-wheeled easy bikes are plying on the highway. No one has any idea how terrible a job this easy bike can bring on the highway. Cylinders filled with butane gas are being stored there. They are being dumped from trucks as if it were tissue paper. They have no idea that this stored butane gas can collapse a five-story building in an instant.
Various types of unrefined, untested medicines are being sold by miking on the side of the road. They sell them as medicines with natural properties. They loudly say that it has no side effects. People are also buying them without any hesitation.
A few days ago, I saw that some cake sellers have gone viral on Facebook. They sell a slice of their cakes for 100 taka. People are eating them at that price. Each cake has eight slices. The entire cake can cost around 400 taka.
But people are eating them at double the price. The idea is that the viral cakes say that they should be eaten at a higher price. The awareness of checking the quality of food and buying at the right price has disappeared from people.
Thousands of other examples can be given to prove the ignorance that exists in our society. There is no minimum remedy for these. There is no initiative to raise awareness. Rather, if someone takes the initiative to do this, thousands of excuses and evasions start. These have become ingrained in our brains. There seems to be no way out.
Therefore, as a responsible citizen, we have to come forward. In addition to being aware ourselves, we have to take the responsibility of making people aware. Only then can we have a conscious society.
