Closer than brothers.
Mathew and Jason's parents were friends who lived next door to each other.
They were born three months apart, with Mathew being the older. The boys played together
from when they were babies and continued to be firm friends who needed no one but each other. They chased each other, wrestled with each other, raced with their toys, cars, trucks, tanks and trains, not to mention watching T V cartoons.
They started pre-school and school together and they played with other children but always together. They both played hockey for the school and for the rest, their favourite games were kicking a ball and marbles and computer games.
Their parents worried that maybe they were too close to each other. They were told that
the ties would probably slacken off as time went by, probably when they started noticing girls
The ties did seem to loosen when girls were added to the mix. When they turned sixteen ;
Jason found a girl friend and Mathew was left alone for some of the time. Two months
later Mathew found a girl friend and now they were a group of four; still with no friction between the boys.
The 'boys' now have families and careers of their own. They are still close and the families
spend leisure time with each other when possible.
Mathew and Jason talk to each other at least 3 times a week; whether in person or on their cells phones.
To have a friendship like this is a gift, something many others would envy.
They are indeed, closer than brothers.
