Though he looks cool on the outside, he's actually a very warm person deep down. I asked him why he always puts on the mask because it is scaring people away. He said, "I don't mean to Zee, it's just a mask I wear to avoid being trampled upon again. Those days still haunt me sometimes." I wasn't in his life during his high school days but I could tell he suffered a lot. Sometimes he wakes up from bed crying or just screaming curse words. I'm just his friend but I can't help staying with him all the time to make sure he's okay. We were at a restaurant having our dinner when a cute lady walked up to him. "Hi, I'm Cassie. I've been watching you since you came in and I must say.....you are really handsome". And as usual, instead of replying her warmly he gave her a cold stare instead.
For some reason I was happy, but then I felt pity for Cassie when I saw how uncomfortable she was at that moment. "V, say something rather than staring at her". He looked at me, confused like as if he didn't expect that from me. Cassie who looked like she could pee in her pants any moment replied me, "It's cool, I didn't know you guys are on a date. I'll head to my table now". She left with her face down. I burst into a laughter which got V even more confused. "Can you believe her. She thinks we are on a date". V replied, "Aren't we?"
That got me speechless. A date?? With him??.... Nahhhh. He's probably joking around. But he doesn't! Does that mean he likes me?. As if on cue, "Calm down Zee, it's just a date.... as friends. You don't have to look so serious". I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding for a while. "Since you are done let's check out the house you were talking about".
"Yeah, I almost forgot. It is not far from here. We can just walk to that place". On our way, close to the house we saw a cute puppy which made V smile. He was even more breathtaking. The last time I saw him smile that way was when he saw two birds flying around him. Yup!, This man loves nature. He picked the puppy up and asked me, "Can I keep it Zee?"
Who would tell that kinda face no. He was so cute. I nodded my head in approval and he ran to the house in excitement with the dog in his arms. The house was so dusty inside with spider webs everywhere. "V how did you find this place?". V going through some stuffs replied, "I was bored one evening and decided to stroll. I saw someone who looked suspicious taking the route we took and I got here". "Did you see who it was?". "No" climbing a ladder
"No?. You mean you followed someone down to this place but when you got here you didn't see anyone??". "Yup!". I was about to reply what he just said when suddenly I saw a hand coming out from the huge hole in the roof that V was trying to get into. "V, look out!". But it was late. Whatever that was had already taken him.
