Well, the vote counting continues, and accusations of widespread voter fraud are being spewed by both sides as the acrimonious election process plods along, but no one is asking the real questions: How did the Presidential race become such an existential threat, why is there so much power vested in one individual, and how did this zero-sum game of a false choice fallacy become such a big deal every four years?
People keep saying, "we need to get money out of politics," but for that to happen, we need to get politics out of money so people stop using the State as a means to plunder their neighbors. That's not going to happen, though, because governments were instituted among men for the express purpose of formalizing and organizing plunder. Taxation is systemic extortion, not "the price we pay for a civilized society." There is nothing civilized about government action.
Partisans feel good when they think the territorial monopoly in violence we call a government might possibly turn a portion of its abuse on the other party. That is a sick and disgusting manipulation of greed and hate in a zero-sum game for the benefit of the political class in a zero-sum game for the rest of us.
"We need to tax and regulate the economy even more, ban guns, and nationalize sectors of the economy while mandating that people support A, B, and C!"
"We need to control international trade, restrict immigration, regulate marriage, and ban drugs while mandating that people support X, Y, and Z!"
Can't you see how our common desire for control over our own lives is being twisted and perverted into support for government control over everyone to the detriment of liberty for all? Look beyond the rhetoric and the promised results of their control schemes. Take a wider look at the impact of the policy proposals. Understand that these emotion-fueled elections are part of the shell game, and our surrendered liberties cannot be regained by political means.
I want Trump to lose. I don't want Biden to win. Society does not require the State. Don't pin your hopes and dreams on the frailties of mankind's vanity. As the Electoral College process unfolds, recognize the inherent injustice of any stranger claiming power to impose any ruler over you, your life, your liberty, your property, your voluntary associations, your peaceful interactions, your travel, your trade, and any other aspect of your existence as a free and independent individual.
