Is It Really "The Most Important Election" Again?

As of this post, we are a week from election day. A decade ago, I wrote, Should Christians Vote? In the time since then, I have learned a lot. None of it has changed that root question, or my answer to it, except to add the more emphatic answer, "no."

Every single election cycle of my life has become more absurdly antagonistic between parties with at least 95% agreement on core principles, but that tiny at-most-5% dispute is treated like a massive gulf between enemies. Just for one example, do they raise unemployment benefits, or just leave them alone? There is no cancellation. True radical change is off the ballot entirely.

If you still feel you must vote despite my words then and now, I once again encourage you to vote 3rd party, write in your own name, or even support Mickey Mouse now that he is out of copyright for his earliest appearances. Anyone but the major party posers we are told to revere because they say things you like.

After all, in two years, we will have yet another "most important election" again... but you won't have to question why your guy or gal did all those awful things after promising peace and prosperity. Let the kingdoms of this world go. They will do their own thing no matter what. Just stop trying to sanctify it with your participation.
