I made this trio of necklaces with an aquatic color scheme thanks to some discounted items. The chain and other findings were from my existing inventory. I don't tend to feel comfortable making chunkier pieces, but I thought I would explore this style a little bit.
The large teardrop-shaped stones were from a strand with two other large broken beads, so they were much less expensive on clearance than they otherwise would have been. The starfish and seashell charms were also part of a partial set on clearance. The rest of the beads were on sale.
I had started with the charms on their own on a fine chain as simple necklaces, but these beads sparked an idea for these more elaborate creations here instead.
The center necklace uses dyed agate 12mm beads and acrylic spacers that look metallic. Had I used metal beads, the cost in materials would have increased, as would the weight of the finished piece. I tried to balance the overall shade of the beads with lighter bands more prominent near the center and darker blue toward the ends.
