El motivo de mi presencia es mostrar un nuevo proyecto fácil, económico de hacer, bonito para lucir complementando un outfit. Sí, mis queridos amigos, se trata de un collar hecho con trapillo, material ligero, resistente, flexible, de colores variados. Lo puedes conseguir de diferentes grosores dependiendo del uso que quieras darle. También se le conoce como tiras de tela de algodón reciclado. Lo puedes comprar o hacer tú mismo. Les cuento cómo hice mi trapillo casero a partir de una franela. Corté tiras de 2 cm en forma horizontal del cuerpo de la franela, luego estiré las tiras hasta quedar como un cigarrillo largo. El resto de los materiales, como la cadena, fue un sobrante de un proyecto y las cuentas con sus separadores eran de un collar pasado de moda. ¡Ahora vamos a crear! I’m here to show you a new project that’s easy to make, inexpensive, and beautiful to wear as an accessory to complement an outfit. Yes, my dear friends, it’s a necklace made from fabric yarn—a lightweight, durable, flexible material that comes in a variety of colors. You can find it in different thicknesses depending on how you plan to use it. It’s also known as recycled cotton fabric strips. You can buy it or make it yourself. I’ll tell you how I made my homemade fabric yarn from a T-shirt. I cut 2-cm-wide strips horizontally from the body of the flannel shirt, then stretched the strips until they looked like a long cigarette. The rest of the materials, like the chain, were leftovers from a previous project, and the beads with their spacers were from an old-fashioned necklace. Now let’s get creative! ✨PASOS// STEPS✨
El trapillo lo obtuve cortando tiras horizontales de 2 cm que corté desde la axila para abajo de una franela, esas tiras se estiran hasta quedar bien delgadas. De las cuales 4 largas para el collar y 3 tiras, aproximadamente de unos 35 cm para hacer los nudos.
I made the fabric yarn by cutting 2-cm-wide horizontal strips from the underarm down the side of a T-shirt; I stretched these strips until they were very thin. I used 4 long strips for the necklace and 3 strips, each about 35 cm long, to make the knots.
Adelgazar las puntas de las tiras usando el encendedor con la finalidad de introducir las cuentas sin dificultad y ganar tiempo.
Thin out the ends of the strips with a lighter so you can thread the beads easily and save time.
Comenzar a introducir las cuentas y separadores, llevarlos hasta la mitad de la tira.
Start adding the beads and spacers, stringing them up to the middle of the strand.
Luego, se introduce la tira por cada uno de los eslabones de la cadena. El eslabón inicial y final se deben sujetar con un punto de costura, tratando de que sea lo más discreto posible para que no le reste belleza a la pieza.
Next, thread the strip through each link of the chain. The first and last links should be secured with a stitch, making sure it is as inconspicuous as possible so as not to detract from the piece's beauty.
Juntar las tiras, hacer un nudo dejando una tira corta, luego con la tira más larga pasar unas 12 veces alrededor, rematar con un nudo, cortar el material sobrante y sellar con el encendedor. Repetir el proceso con el otro lado.
Bring the strips together, tie a knot leaving one strip short, then wrap the longer strip around it about 12 times, finish with a knot, cut off the excess material, and seal it with a lighter. Repeat the process on the other side.
Ahora se procede a cerrar el collar, repitiendo el nudo anterior, se corta el sobrante y se sella con el encendedor.
Now close the necklace by repeating the previous knot, trim off the excess, and seal it with a lighter.

Son infinitos los diseños de collares hechos con trapillo; de igual forma, las combinaciones de argollas, cadenas, cuentas para decorar. El estilo lo defines tú: se te gustan trenzados, sin adornos, decorados, cortos o largos. Simplemente es un accesorio de moda que logramos reciclando materiales.
