The country's stock markets fell on Thursday. The broader index of the Sensex fell by 25.36 points, to 33,819.50 and the Nifty declined 14.75 points to close at 10,382.70. The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex fell by 27.77 points, to close at 33,817.09, and closing 25.36 points or 0.07 percent down at 33,819.50.
The Sensex touched the day's high of 33,868.74 and level of 33,691.42 in the day's trading. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also declined. The BSE midcap index closed 89.32 points lower at 16,322.14 and the smallcap index climbed 76.41 points to 17,723.73.
On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Sensex index Nifty closed 43.1 points down at 10,354.35 and closed 14.75 points or 0.14 percent down at 10,382.70. Nifty touched the day's low of 10,397.55 and touched a low of 10,340.65 in the daytime trade.
Of the 19 sectors, 19 sectors were in the gains, including Realty (0.70 per cent), Information Technology (0.59 per cent), Health Services (0.37 per cent), Technology (0.23 per cent) and Banking (0.13 per cent). Among the sectors, BSE oil and gas (1.46 per cent), electricity (1.11 per cent), energy (0.98 per cent), telecommunications (0.95 per cent) and vehicles (0.90 per cent) remained dominant.
