No matter where we live in a rural community, a small town, a suburban area, or in a large city we will not have to look very far to see many evidences of alienation and loneliness. Stresses and changes in our society have led to marital breakups and family problems in record-breaking numbers. Economic stresses have led to poverty and related difficulties.
We also see many artificial barriers which separate people---whether it be income, social status, job status, or whatever.
Even among young people there is evidence of great stress and alienation. With pressures to grow up fast (what Dr. David Elkind, psychologist and columnist for parent magazine, calls the phenomenon of the "hurried child"), as well as to achieve success in academics, sports, or hobbies, many adolescents have been turning to drugs, alcohol and sex to find personal pleasure and acceptance by peers.
Love and Respect
Many of the problems of modern culture stem from a lack of two attitudes: love and respect. but deficiency in these attitudes is not new. The apostle Paul gave these instructions to Timothy: "Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older woman as mothers, and younger woman as sisters, with absolute purity" (1 Tim.5:1,2). Boiled down to the main thought, Paul is saying "Be sure that your relationships are marked by LOVE and RESPECT.
There should be no room for hashness in our relationships. if instruction is needed, it should be through encouragement rather than rebuke. We should be gracious and treat others with Honor.
Thankyou for reading and have a nice day!!
