Following along the winter theme, since we're back in the negatives (˚F) for a while here in Minnesota.

it’s some kind of worry
the fierce blue white and clear
love of death and misnomer
“a wonderful winter,”
so called because it’s beautiful
and because we live for it
we live through it
we live through them
the branches and bushes
flowers — all petals
those leaves
a home

snow falls
they fall
they die
like a beautiful vampire all of it
the ice resting gently
they don’t know that they are home to their own impending death

but we love it don’t we?
because the snow breathes upon them
and we love its chill
a comforting sting
not enough to burn
just enough to keep the senses company
