oh I am sure they will fill that noise void with something. Down at the beach areas the tuktuks have giant speakers in them that I would also like to see banned.

i think you are missing a word or two in your first sentence. In Thailand the government will close in on someone for saying something disparaging about the country or government or especially the royals.

I feel your pain. A lot of my college buddies have come to visit me here and they are just drawn in by the fact that you can drink and party basically all the time and there are no repurcussions for that.

IT's tragic that this is part of your life now but you are making the best of it. Those train terminals are extremely clean! I am impressed with that.

At many of the temples here in Chiang Mai there are signs at the entrance of the temple asking people to not drop off more animals because they are full already. I hope there is a sterilization program

When I go to a place and it costs this little my idea about how good it will be are normally very low. When it ends up being good I am normally very surprised.

While I do like the beaches in Phuket I really don't like the amount of time it takes to get to them. Phuket is one of the quintessential places, a case study of sorts, of how a place can be ruined by

I have gotten to the point that when I see someone recording just in my general direction that it makes me kind of nervous. I don't want to be on the receiving end of something viral when I don't even

well, you guys look quite happy and that is a very healthy looking kitty cat!

I think this idea about younger people having less respect than the previous generation is pretty universal going all the way back to the beginning of time :)

that's a good take on this situation. Social media certainly does amplify anything and blows it out of proportion. These days I think it is unfortunately become quite popular to blame any issues on some

Thai culture is pretty noisy as well. I don't know why the trains in BKK seem to be an exception to this but I like it

IT would be nice if the cars got smaller here in Chiang Mai.. the number one vehicle of choice here is giant pickup trucks and of course Toyota Corona/Corollas for the taxis. If you have a pickup truck

I do think it is important to be a bit protective of your wallet in Thailand and other places but assuming that everything is a ripoff is only going to ruin your own trip. It's just counter-productive

this is always the case. Durian for the most part doesn't even exist in North America, I would imagine if it did it would be wildly expensive.

even though they wont admit it a lot of this has to do with the partying and girls that are in Thailand lol. Yes, absolutely. I have seen a number of people swear they were never going to return only to

I can understand trying to cut down on begpackers or problematic countries that are constantly making trouble but pensioners? They just hang out and spend money.. kind of like a government's dream come

I think that it is to benefit large hotels and doesn't factor in the regular person who benefits by increased tourism numbers. The government doesn't care about the small businesses because they don't

it certainly seems that way. In Pattaya for sure but this is because of sex tourism. I 'm sure there is some sort of very high end sex tourism but the street level stuff we see in major hotspots in Thailand

I get annoyed when I see dogs that are semi-taken care of in our neighborhood and they pop up with pups every now and then... then, a short while later the puppies are all gone and the cycle begins anew.
