It's Saturday evening. I just finished watching tonight's episodes of Midsummer Murder's on PBS. I like mysteries.
It is not my norm to have chips and dip for supper, but I wanted some and I didn't need to eat supper AND eat this too so.... why not ?!
Before my show started I decided to throw some dip together and enjoy it while I watched.
This is truly the easiest dip ever and is good for a quick snack for unexpected guests or to add into your big party line up. I love simple dishes that don't take a lot of time, but taste good, especially if you are needing several items to serve.
There are only two ingredients (not counting the chips), just a can of chili (or if you have leftover of your favorite homemade chili).... and an 8 ounce block of cream cheese. It doesn't matter the brand of chili, just whatever is your favorite. I do not like beans in my dip, but if you do, you could also buy a can of chili with beans and it would still work the same.
First you open the chili and dump it in a pot. I usually put the dial between low and medium as it really doesn't need to boil at any time.
'
I usually cut the cream cheese in chunks so that when I add it to the chili, it melts faster than if I put the block of cheese in whole.
After the chili has began to warm, I put my cream cheese in. I didn't sit my cream cheese out for a while first this time, but if you did, it would melt faster. Either way, it comes out fine.
Then you will want to stay close by and stir it around a bit now and then till the cream cheese melts. It doesn't take long. Once it is melted it is ready since canned chili is already cooked.
Then grab your Scoops or whatever chip you like best. I have used regular Fritos many times, which are the same as Scoops, but smaller. If you prefer another chip instead.... have at it ! 馃槃
See ?? So simple.... and it is pretty decent dip for a quickie. It will only be as spicy as the chili you use in it.
It was quick to make and I enjoyed eating it for supper. LOL
Yum ! Yum !
Hope you are all doing well and that your hearts are happy !
