I tracked a Skinner patrol through the forest alongside Charles to locate our captured comrade, Uncle. After eliminating a lone driver with a headshot, we scouted their main camp from a cliff. Spots of incoming enemies forced us into fast action, ending with a clutch headshot to save Charles from being overpowered.
We pulled back into the dense shadows, halting completely as footsteps echoed through the trees. A Skinner patrol was passing on our left, scanning the misty woods. It felt like they were waiting for us, setting a trap.
We waited quietly for them to clear the area before moving again. As we crouched silently behind the foliage, Charles suggested that we let them go without starting a fight. It was a smart call. The way those men were talking made it clear that Uncle was still alive.
Once the patrol moved out of our way, we started advancing through the woods again. We kept our movements completely silent, stepping carefully over dead branches. The main priority was to save Uncle before anything worse happened to him, but we also needed to deal with the enemy.
A little farther ahead, we spotted a wooden wagon moving slowly through the trees with something heavy being dragged behind it. I checked the scene closely, using my photo mode to zoom in on the figure trailing behind the wheels.
I needed to see if it was Uncle, but it turned out to be another poor victim.
Even though it was not Uncle, we followed the wagon at a safe distance. Following them seemed like the best way to find their main camp without getting lost in the dense forest.
After a moment, the driver brought the horses to a halt and climbed down from his seat. He walked to the back of the wagon to handle the body that had been dragging in the dirt.
We knew we had to eliminate him before he could reach his camp or sound an alarm. Before he could turn around, I pulled back my bow string and took down the driver with a clean arrow shot.
With the driver dead, we pressed deeper into the woods toward the camp. Charles led the way as we made our way up toward a steep cliff that overlooked the area. When we reached the edge of the rocks, I looked down and saw a massive camp spread out in the valley below.
I pulled out my binoculars to get a clearer view of what was happening in the center. And I found Uncle in the camp who was tied over an open flame, and was being burned alive, while no skinners were seen around.
We needed to move fast to get down there and save him, but Charles reminded me to stay careful. Moving carelessly would get us killed.
Just as Charles finished speaking, a Skinner lunged out from behind the rocks and rushed directly at John. Charles reacted instantly, threw a knife and eliminated the attacker before he could strike.
Almost immediately, another enemy jumped out from the shadows and grabbed Charles from behind, pinning his arms. I drew my weapon in a fraction of a second and dropped the attacker with a precise headshot.
Here I'm finishing the post for today, and I'll talk about more special RDR 2 gaming moments in Gaming Photography.
