Cloudy sky over Berlin.

We landed at Tegel Airport in Berlin.
Then bus to the Bahnhof zoo (I instantly remembered the book “We Children from Bahnhof Zoo”) . On the Bahnhof Zoo, we take other bus, and after that a few minutes’ walk.

Hotel: Modern building full of marble. Nice comfortable rooms. After a short break I go for a walk.

First location Postdamer Platz:
The former eastern part of Berlin, today's center of Berlin, where lot of money was invested.
In memory comes the picture of the largest European construction site in the 1990s with huge sky-cranes and holes in ground where workers do not stop working.

The result is in front of me: Potsdamer Platz in full glory. Inside the magnificent buildings are firms like Sony and other multinational companies.
At the center of the square are remains of the Berlin Wall.
Reminder on the days when the city was divided into two parts, east and west Berlin.
Days when the Germans were overnight cut off from their relatives, friends and neighbors.

I continue my tour.
I turn to Ebertstrasse and go to see Brandenburg Gate. Halfway Brandenburg gate is Holocaust Memorial, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. A cold and shattered concrete blocks from a distance they look like a large cemetery. It really leaves a strong impression. You can walk between these blocks. It contains 2,711 concrete blocks of different heights.

I come to another sights of Berlin, Brandenburg Gate or Brandenburger Tor.
Gate's design is based upon the Propylaea, the gateway to the Acropolis in Athens The gate consists twelve Doric columns, six to each side, forming five passageways.
They were built at the end of the 18th century and were open during Frederick William II of Prussia.

I pass through the central part of the gate, a passage reserved only for kings and arrive at the Pariser platz, which before the Second World War was the most significant square in Berlin.

I just realized what the time is.
I'm going back to the hotel to prepare for tomorrow's business meetings.
