as the title says, this is a noodle update. i got caught with the advertisement web this shop laid the last time. and here we are on the same week trying it out. weekends are dine out days, my housemate finally asked restaurant suggestions and i happily replied.
the shop was still not visible in google maps, i thanked my phone feature for the exact location of the photo i took the last time.
the shop was quaint, but it was big enough for the typical japanese eye. and the menu... that was rough. no pictures, all texts. i had no clue what to order, chose the tokusei for those are usually reserved for food with all the best ingredients: the specialty. and here is the result. of course i had to take a "food blog" picture.
i got the hot variant. a hard boiled egg, leeks, fried tofu, pork as toppings, and onions and fried tempura bits on the side for additional toppings: this soba was one of the best i have tried. the soba noodles itself was the star! soba is typically made from buckwheat, but you can add other types of flours to add flavor which i am pretty sure this one had. this soba was chewy with bite! a bit thicker than a linguine, the noodle was just enough to capture the simple soy sauce flavored broth. each bite is a satisfaction.
it was joy to eat the food -- simple yet sumptuous. it was a good find indeed.
