the sunday was spent on a fun adventure in kawasaki city!
we had a differ plan initially, we were supposed to climb the mountains.
but unfortunately, predictions of rain were all over the weather sites so we had to cancel.
we are novice hikers, that in itself is already a risk.
having a slippery path would exponentially increase that risk.
so the consensus was to cancel, we ended up in kawasaki instead.
so how did we end up here?
everything started at a trip to kawasaki, a city sandwiched between two giants — yokohama and tokyo.
it may have started as a residential area due to the location, but it has fully flourished into a city of its own in these past years.
the goal for now was food and we know where to go.
this is the only fixed plan in the itinerary today, everything else were movable.
we came for filipino food... in great volumes.
it was a buffet, not much on the menu though but enough for the price.
as a buffet enthusiast, it has been established that the best way to maximize intake is to take small portions of each and savor each portion.
return to the buffet table for items you deemed fit to the palate.
but never take in liquids nor carbohydrates as much as possible, they make you full.
of course this is common knowledge, who am i joking?
just a gentle reminder.
let me introduce the dishes starting with the soup then clockwise
- nilaga: a simple beef based soup with lots of cabbage
- lumpia: ground meat and veggies wrapped in rice paper and deep fried
- afritada: chicken in tomato sauce with carrots, potatoes and green peas
- kare kare: pork legs with greens in peanut butter sauce served with shrimp paste
- palabok: rice noodle with ground meat and annatto sauce topped with boiled eggs and crushed chicharon (pork rinds) and
calamansi (philippine lime)lemons this time
every bite was savory, every bite was joy, every bite was nostalgia.
lumpia was my favorite in this set.
of course we ate servings after servings, isn't that what buffets are for?
that was 2 hours of eating and catching up.
we finally left and roamed around the shopping area in search of something to do.
i was in search of a portable fan but couldn't find something to my liking.
we tried entering darts bar after darts bar but all of them were full.
it was sunday after all, no work day.
we saw this sign in one of the bars and immediately took a snap.
@wittyzell volunteered to be the model.
shout out to hive for sponsoring this event!
ahaha
with nowhere to go and nothing to do, we searched for a coffee shop — very millennial.
we ended up searching in a distant mall, with an open space of green grass.
sadly it was raining a bit so the grass were surely wet.
it was such a long wait before we entered that we decided to have dinner in the same shop.
food were bistro dishes, i ordered a classic, meat balls pasta.
delicious just like the classic.
dessert was served with the drinks, matcha chiffon and cafe latté.
with every meal comes the talks, both my stomach and ears were overwhelmed.
we went to the rooftop and discovered this mini shrine.
it was complete with the usual torii gates and greeneries, no shrine is complete without them.
a friend offered some prayers probably for the coming exams.
low and behold when we turned back...
a full view of the entire open area was in sight.
ps: i finally found a portable fan!
ready for summer!
stay safe everyone!
