The bullfrog was an exceptionally ugly and unpleasant creature. But, he had very high aspirations. The bullfrog wanted to be a soprano, a singer, whose voice could soar and ripple over an audience. A voice that could squeeze hearts and inspire adoration.
The bullfrog practiced, oh so very hard. He sang at every given opportunity especially when the hare came to drink from his pond. The hare was very fair; she was ever so beautiful. The bullfrog set his sights on her and wanted her for his very own. Whenever she came near, he’d raise his voice and belt out a spectacular, special song, just for her. The thing is, that whenever he did this the hare would sniff the air, quiver, and dash off - sometimes without even taking a drink of water!
The bullfrog pondered this riddle, he fretted and worried late into the night.
Why didn’t the hare adore him the way he did her?
It was a mystery worth applying his fabulous, superior intellect to.
Then he came up with a plan. Every bullfrog had read all the princess and frog stories ever told. Suddenly, he just knew what to do.
Next time he saw the hare, he sidled up, keeping dead quiet. He offered her his hand. When she took it out of sheer surprise he kissed it.
Low and behold, the bullfrog and the hare metaphorized into a very handsome frog couple, the bullfrog sang to his love everyday, and lived happily ever after.
