Hi friends, it's been a long time since I've been able to interact on the weekends. A little bit has happened at home; from my sister's hospitalization to her return home. Everything went well with her, the medicine did its job, and now she just has to be more careful with her health, so she doesn't go through this again.
Feeling the pride
What are a few things about yourself, or which you have done, that have left you feeling proud? List one, or a few, and tell us the situation and why you feel it was an accomplishment to be proud of. (Having children is excluded from this question.)
I really liked this prompt, it is something I had never stopped to think about. The truth is, feeling pride about something is a little intimidating, a lot of times it's not taken in a positive way, that's why I tend to be a little modest.
But here we are once again, digging a little more about ourselves, about what we have inside and that is of utmost importance to me.
I think because it's Pride Month, one of the things I'm proud of is that I've come out to most of my family and friends (still missing my father, but that's another story). I recently mentioned in a post how I came out to my mother (one night talking it all came out) and with my friends I gradually told them. Another thing is that this great platform has allowed me to show myself as I really am, to be me in a genuine way, without deception, without disguise, and that is something that makes me feel very good.
Another thing I'm proud of is my college degree. I didn't graduate with honors, but I graduated with the most effort of my existence. I remember that when I entered the university it was through the selection of a national program that reserved a university place for you. Mine was to study physics. It was not what I wanted to study, but I took it because once I was in the university I could change careers. It took me two whole years to change careers, and then I was finally able to study what I wanted: English.
However, this was half-hearted. I had always wanted to study languages, but unfortunately I couldn't. What can I say, I am poor. To study languages I had to go to a private university and I did not have the financial resources to do so. On the other hand, my alma mater gave me the opportunity to study English but in the educational field. I did not miss the opportunity and studied that career. After five years I obtained my university degree as an English teacher.
It was quite a strong five years; financially speaking. And although I have not yet been able to practice my profession, I believe that very soon I will be able to. This has been the greatest achievement of my life, and I am very proud that despite all the obstacles I was able to reach my goal.
