The Canadian Museum of Nature is five floors of science, discovery, and wonder. From archeological discoveries to what is more common place and recent. Come see prehistoric bones, visit taxidermic examples of wildlife in Canada, or come see the living exhibit of bugs and butterflies.
The exhibit of dinosaur bones is quite extensive and one has to pay attention to not only the boxed exhibits but those on the floor and hanging from the ceiling.
Sorry for the blurry shot but this is a prehistoric turtle and it is 10 feet in length and 4 feet in width. Quite a spectacular speciman.
In certain areas of the museum there are recreations of the most popular dinosaurs in there supposed habitat for visitors to stand next to for photo opportunities. Who could resist taking their picture in front of a triceratops or a Trex. I certainly couldn't.
And one floor was devoted to animals of Canada. A perfect specimen of a bison in this case. Many many other animals are on display.
It was a very large museum and unfortunately I had not sufficiently charged my camera but additional galleries of displays had living displays of hissing cockroaches, a working beehive, praying manitses and many other insects were to be observed. The beehive was built so that a tube exited the building at the side so one could see the bees coming and going.
It is a museum you will need to spend a day at least visiting to take on all the exhibits. So much to see all at once. There was a long standing belief that the fourth floor of the building was haunted by various unhappy shades. Whether of or not this is true is yet to be established.
