This time, I’m sharing my walk along the banks of the Manzanares River on a quiet, sunny morning. This route is one of my favorites due to the abundance of trees and the beautiful scenery the river offers. After passing the Gómez Rubio Bridge and Mariño Square, I headed back to this avenue and took a stroll along the riverbank; my goal was to admire the beautiful river landscape and the large trees in the area—mostly ceibas—which caught my eye with their great height and somewhat unusual roots.
This stretch of the Manzanares River is one of my personal favorites due to the beautiful scenery it offers; the trees provide welcome shade and a breeze while walking. There is also a concrete pathway that begins at the Gómez Rubio Bridge and extends to the skateboard park facilities behind Ayacucho Park. It is a long stretch, ideal for those who love outdoor exercise and connecting with nature, and it offers the chance to admire the magnificent, large ceiba trees that complement the landscape.
As I walked along, I stopped to observe various plants, their roots, and their trunks. While each one is different, they share a distinctive root structure that forms a series of triangles around the base of the trunk. Near two large trees, there are also lily plants that appear to have been recently planted. There are white posts with LED lights and a beautiful view of the river, offering a glimpse of Guaiquería Park, the concrete pathway, and numerous trees on the opposite bank. These giant ceiba trees truly amaze with their massive trunks, branches, and the unique shapes their roots take on.
In the final photograph, you can see a trunk with a curious root formation; it looks like layers were stacked up to create a large, protruding mass. I stopped here to examine it closely; the root system has actually spread to cover part of the pathway. The trunk is quite wide, and its branches reach out to meet the trees on the far side in Guaiquería Park; this tree is notable for its lush foliage and expansive branches. After pausing at this tree, I continued walking until I reached one of the iron bridges connecting the park to the avenue. I really enjoy this area because it is so cool and relaxing, with charming scenery and the beautiful Manzanares River in the background. Thanks for joining me on this adventure.
