It is a jewel of humanity that was born for greatness and over the years has managed to perpetuate itself as a globally recognised world heritage site.

No importa la hora del d铆a, si es 茅poca de lluvias o de sol, si nos encontramos en temporada vacacional o en jornadas convencionales, la ciudad de Caracas siempre nos regalar谩 lugares incre铆bles, en donde podemos disfrutar de las maravillas de la naturaleza, la grandeza de la arquitectura y las bellezas de un entorno urbano que sabe adaptarse a las necesidades y requerimientos del mundo moderno. El peque帽o en clave que constituye la Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas es un verdadero para铆so en medio de una ciudad tumultuosa, se trata de una joya de la humanidad que naci贸 para la grandeza y con el pasar de los a帽os logr贸 perpetuarse como un bien mundialmente reconocido como patrimonio de la humanidad.

More than the headquarters of the Central University of Venezuela, this small citadel transcends the classical, it goes beyond classrooms, desks and corridors, in its spaces we can find almost anything, from large stadiums, to small cafes, from huge squares, to the most intimate gardens, But one of the places that has a spirit of its own, a singular beauty and a peaceful atmosphere is the imposing forest that crosses the territory of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (FACES), which gives us an enchanted space, crossed by wide paths and full of meters and meters of floors covered by a soft green grass.
M谩s que la sede de la Universidad Central de Venezuela esta peque帽a ciudadela trasciende a lo cl谩sico, va m谩s all谩 de salones, pupitres y pasillos, en sus espacios podemos encontrar casi cualquier cosa, desde grandes estadios, hasta peque帽os cafetines, desde enormes plazas, hasta los jardines m谩s 铆ntimos, pero uno de los lugares que cuenta un esp铆ritu propio, una singular belleza y un ambiente tranquilo es el imponente bosque que atraviesa el territorio de la Facultad de Ciencias Econ贸micas y Sociales (FACES), el cual nos regala un espacio encantado, surcado por amplias caminer铆as y repleto de metros y metros de pisos cubiertos por una suave grama de color verde.
As in every forest we can find different species of trees, from the smallest to the largest, we can even observe an area where the palm trees are raised in an orderly and artistic way, serving as a point of interconnection between the roofed corridor of FACES and the aforementioned forest. This is an area where nature is the protagonist, where we can breathe pure air, feel peace and close our eyes to abstract ourselves from the world around us and immerse ourselves in our inner self, always in search of that safe place, that tranquillity and at the same time that joy that sometimes we need so much.
Como en todo bosque podemos encontrar diversas especies de 谩rboles, d茅jelos m谩s peque帽os hasta los m谩s grandes, incluso podemos observar un 谩rea en donde las palmeras se levantan de forma ordenada y art铆stica, sirviendo como punto de interconexi贸n entre el pasillo techado de FACES y el mencionado bosque. Esta es un 谩rea en donde la naturaleza es la protagonista, en d贸nde podemos respirar aire puro, sentir paz y cerrar nuestros ojos para abstraernos del mundo que nos rodea y sumergirnos en nuestro ser interno, siempre en la b煤squeda de ese lugar seguro, esa tranquilidad y al mismo tiempo esa alegr铆a que a veces tanto nos hace falta.
It is a space that thanks to the immensity of the trees has many areas under the shadows, its northern and southern limits are perfectly marked by the buildings that make up the faculty of economic and social sciences, its flanks or east and east are defined by imposing roofed corridors that go to the dining room and to the central dependencies respectively. In other words, we are in front of a purely natural area, but which is artificially defined. If we abstract a little, we realise that it is a forest designed by man, with the aim of giving students, teachers and visitors a huge park where they can relax, feel safe and, in short, live to the full.
Se trata de un espacio que gracias a la Inmensidad de los 谩rboles cuenta con much铆simas 谩reas bajo las sombras, sus l铆mites norte y sur se encuentran perfectamente marcados por los edificios que conforman la facultad de ciencias econ贸micas y sociales, sus flancos o este y este los definen imponentes pasillos techados que van hacia el comedor y hacia las dependencias centrales respectivamente. Es decir estamos frente a una 谩rea netamente natural, pero que se encuentra definida de forma artificial, si nos abstraemos un poco nos damos cuenta de que se trata de un bosque dise帽ado por el hombre, con la finalidad de regalarle a los estudiantes, profesores y visitantes un inmenso parque en donde poder distraerse, sentirse seguros y en resumen vivir plenamente.

A decir verdad las condiciones propias de este bosque hacen que a pesar de ser un lugar muy c茅ntrico dentro de la ciudad universitaria no es el m谩s concurrido, puesto que su esp铆ritu tranquilo y sombreado atrae m谩s que nada a personas que buscan un lugar en donde relajarse, un espacio en donde pensar despu茅s de un examen, un lugar en donde llorar al perder una materia o sencillamente un sitio en donde poder sentarse junto a amigos a compartir un ambiente fresco y discutir sobre los destinos y sue帽os que nos prepara la vida.
To tell the truth, the conditions of this forest mean that despite being a very central place within the university city, it is not the most crowded, since its quiet and shady spirit attracts more than anything else people who are looking for a place to relax, a place to think after an exam, a place to cry after losing a subject or simply a place to sit with friends to share a cool atmosphere and discuss the destinies and dreams that life has in store for us.
Este es uno de mis lugares favoritos dentro de la universidad, en esos 谩rboles pas茅 muchas horas de mi 茅poca como estudiante y por esas caminer铆as recorr铆a paso tranquilo m煤ltiples tardes a la espera de esas notas que sin duda alguna marcar铆an mi rumbo dentro de mi carrera universitaria. El bosque de FACES es un lugar poco o nada conocido por el p煤blico en general, de hecho es un 谩rea usa m谩s que nada por los estudiantes de dicha facultad, y continuamente se pasa por alto en recorridos guiados y en visitas tur铆sticas, pero creo que esto es un gran error por parte de las autoridades universitarias, ya que este lugar es un espacio realmente bello, en donde podemos admirar en su m谩ximo esplendor trabajo urban铆stico y arquitect贸nico que Carlos Ra煤l Villanueva tan perfectamente dise帽贸 para su obra maestra.
This is one of my favourite places in the university, in those trees I spent many hours of my time as a student and along those paths I walked calmly many afternoons waiting for those grades that would undoubtedly mark my course in my university career. The FACES forest is a place little or not at all known by the general public, in fact it is an area used mostly by the students of that faculty, and it is continually overlooked in guided tours and tourist visits, but I think this is a big mistake on the part of the university authorities, since this place is a really beautiful space, where we can admire in its maximum splendour the urban and architectural work that Carlos Ra煤l Villanueva so perfectly designed for his masterpiece.
He tenido la oportunidad de visualizar este espacio en diversas 茅pocas de mi vida, por lo tanto, he sido testigo los cambios que durante el a帽o atraviesa un espacio natural como este y en las im谩genes que les presento a continuaci贸n se muestra esa realidad, en donde en las 茅pocas m谩s lluviosas el pasto siempre estar谩 m谩s verde, mientras que en las temporadas de sequ铆a un piso 谩rido comienza a surgir desde lo m谩s profundo, 煤ltimamente con los procesos de rehabilitaci贸n de toda la Ciudad Universitaria podemos apreciar como el bosque tambi茅n ha sido tocado, los edificios a su alrededor est谩n siendo restaurados y nuevos jardines surgen a darle un toque de vida y color a espacios que eran dominados por los tonos grises y las sombras nost谩lgicas.
I have had the opportunity to visualize this space at different times of my life, therefore, I have witnessed the changes that a natural space like this goes through during the year and the images below show that reality, where in the rainy seasons the grass will always be greener, while in the dry seasons the grass is always greener, Lately with the rehabilitation processes of the entire University City we can see how the forest has also been touched, the buildings around it are being restored and new gardens are emerging to give a touch of life and colour to spaces that were dominated by grey tones and nostalgic shadows.
M谩s all谩 de los recuerdos personales que tengo sobre este lugar, les puedo asegurar que se trata de un espacio m谩gico, el cual vale la pena conocer, disfrutar y vivir, creo que ya de por s铆 es un error visitar Caracas y no conocer la Ciudad Universitaria, pero ser铆a a煤n peor Si pasas por la Ciudad Universitaria y no te internas en el bosque de FACES, as铆 que aprovecha la pr贸xima temporada vacacional, arma tu mochila, Ven y visita a Venezuela, descubre sus bellezas, sus encantos y sus espacios que son realmente incre铆bles, te aseguro que este ser谩 un viaje que jam谩s podr谩s olvidar y uno de los que m谩s vayas a disfrutar.
