Hello, friends.
The first Wednesday of this year was a day off and we decided to go to the taiga to get some fresh air. In winter there is a lot of snow in the taiga and you won’t be able to just walk “wherever you look”, you can fall into a snowdrift.

But back at the end of the last century, friends showed me a spring outside the village of Srednyaya Shush. The water in the spring is very tasty and local residents constantly go to it. Therefore, there is a path there at any time of the year.

Leaving the car on the outskirts of the village, we set off. The path led us through a grove of Siberian cedar deep into the taiga. At the beginning of autumn there are a lot of people in this place, the Siberian cedar nut is ripening and harvesters come to collect it. I don’t like to be here during this period; at this time the cedar grove reminds me of a city park during carnival. I have enough crowds of people and their bustle in the city, but I go to the taiga to enjoy the peace and quiet. In winter, in this grove only the wind rustles in the treetops and the streams gurgle quietly.

There is a path along which we walk to the birthplace of one of the streams.

A spring flows at the foot of the mountain and water from a natural soil bowl flows through an artificial chute into the stream bed. The water is really very tasty, and when we always come here, we fill our flasks with water from the spring.

Having burst out of the ground, the water of this spring flows in a stream into the Shush River, then flows into the Yenisei River and flows north, where it flows into the Kara Sea of the Arctic Ocean.

After walking to the spring, we decided to go further to the Shushi River, fortunately someone had recently driven an ATV and it was possible to walk along the rut without falling into the snow. The river had not yet gone under the ice and was babbling merrily over the stones.

Having been in the taiga and breathing truly fresh air, you get a surge of strength and vigor. I sometimes think about exchanging the city for a subtaiga village, but alas, for now the city holds me tightly, allowing me only occasionally to escape to places like this for short periods of time.
