Today as i was looking back at my past travels i ran into one of my most exiciting journeys to india which is home to my grandparents and my father who was born in chennai india i took these pictures during my trip to amritsar india where i visited one of the finest temples built back in the late 15th century the great golden temple of Amritsar
The Golden temple is one of the most spiritual sites of the Sikhs
During my trip there when i spoke to some of the locals there i was told that the golden temple has been deatroyed and built back a few times and that it was the centre of conflict between the hindus and muslims they even mentioned that the outer building of the temple and the entrance is completely gold plated when u asked that what they meant by gold plated they noted that pure gold was used in the form of gold plates and they saud that the main temple was built with pure gold which was constructed under the king Ranjit singh it was one of the most beautiful sites i had visited in india and do not regret it upto this day i do have to say it was worth every penny i spent for my trip down there as even the locala were great people to interact with what amused me most is that this site that has been the centre of war between the muslims and hindus was constructed with hindu and muslim acrhitecture
Even after being destroyed a few times between the conflict of muslims and hindus this temple constructed over and over again and still stands strong and it is one of the few temples that is open 24 hours a day and everyday of the year
and the sikhs consider this the holiest site in their lives for worship
A short walk from the temple stands the jallianwala bagh it is another historical site located in Amritsar right beside the golden temple is considered a garden of history and a national site that preserves the memory of those hurt and killed during the jallianwala bagh massacre
hope you guys forgive me if i have made any mistakes while writing this i am not a proffesional writer im just a travel lover i rather speak through pictures than words photo was taken with a samsung s8 plus
hope u guys like my post and hope some day everyone get to visit this monumental place especially if u love vegan food they have the widest variety of vegan food made all over amritsar but places around the temple are strictly vegan
thank you everyone for your attention
