Fields of wheat ready for harvest
Argentina is a large producer of wheat.
Wheat is a cereal that is grown during the winter. The sowing is in the months of June, July and until August and the harvest occurs in the months of December, January in the Southern Hemisphere.
There are areas of Argentina that are obliged to plant wheat because being so far south they have a very free period of frost. That is, there are very few days between the last late frost and the first early frost, therefore summer crops can not be carried out because they are killed by late frosts or early frosts.
The greater amount of Wheat produced in Argentina has bakery aptitude. The customers of the wheat are Flour Mills that produce flour for consumption of the population or for the export. Bulk wheat is also exported.
