Well they can already grow new organs from patient stem cells, but they need a "scaffolding" and life support during the process. That scaffolding currently comes from a deceased donor and they use hair conditioner[last I heard] to wash off all the prior organics.

Kind'a fascinating, but still at the level of "in rats".
