A small child bumps into Jay and Lilicoon. They're lost and ask help to find their parentals. And can they help the child tie their shoes? -- Anon Guest
They had been enjoying a good night out, and it almost time for it to end. They were both dawdling on getting to the 'goodbyes' for the evening. Walking slower. Finding things to mention and have another conversation about it.
"'Scuse me," said a little voice. A very small child. "Are you good grownups? I need he'p wif my shoes, please."
Jay backed away. "I haven't done the course. Lili? You have, right?"
"Yes, I can help," said Lilicoon, already bending down to tie up the laces. "What made you decide we're good adults?"
"Black and red is best to ged," they pointed out Jay's braces.
"Black, red, and yellow means stay back, good fellow," Jay added to the mnemonic. He remembered what little he knew of being a guide to children. "It was a good try, all the same." He aimed an accusing glare at his Security Guard. "Sometimes, I could get people in big trouble."
"It's all right," cooed Lilicoon. "There's other helpers so that nobody gets in trouble."
Shoelaces properly tied, with a careful iteration of ways the kid could do it themself, Lilicoon took their hand and lead them to a more public area. And a security booth therein. "See? Orange for station services and purple for the security part of that. They can always help."
The parents were already there, and one glared daggers at Jay no matter how far he stood back from the scene. He put his hands on his head and stared into nothing until the crisis was over.
"I really hate the Pax Humanis behaviour tests," he grumbled.
