Wraithvine has had a really bad day, everyone does from time to time, but Lilbit crawls out of hir pocket, onto the shoulder, purring, trying to cheer up their person.

Long days are even longer for Elven kind. Their hours of rest are far shorter than other peoples, you see. It may give them extra time to spend on artistry. In this case, it gave one Elf extra hours in which to be messed around in.
It had been hours of red tape, chasing down this or that specific detail, and otherwise learning just how many offices needed how much otherwise useless information. Wraithvine was certain that the person who invented bureaucracy was stewing in their own, special hell. If Wraithvine had anything to do with those proceedings, that individual would be spending an eternity filling out their own paperwork.
At least it was over now.
For now. The offices were closed and Wraithvine had a tome's worth of forms to fill in before ze could try again the next day. Many of them in triplicate.
Lilbit had been napping comfortably in a very roomy pocket for most of the day. Fed suitable snacks whenever she awoke or, when occasion demanded, communing with nature in a potted aspidestra.
Honestly, the people in those offices deserved to wonder where the smell was coming from.
This time, the ridiculously tiny kitten was neither hungry nor thirsty. Nor indeed was she in need of Wraithvine's Pocket Litterbox[1]. She climbed up to Wraithvine's shoulder and set to purring.
She nuzzled and rubbed at Wraithvine's cheek with all the power possible in her tiny kitten body. Adding some grooming to her process.
Wraithvine put the paperwork aside and set to the very serious task of playing with hir pet. "All right. Yes. It has been very trying, thank you for noticing. Of course you deserve some play time."
So did Wraithvine, and Lilbit was providing an ample excuse.
Both of them took the time to chase the cobwebs out of their inner corners. By the time Lilbit was ready to sleep, Wraithvine was past ready to take hir rest.
The paperwork could wait until after that. Some things were far more important.
[1] Like a Pocket Tent, but way more specific about the rest it provides. As a bonus, it's also self-cleaning.
