It's the little things that are important. And some little things are more important than others when a Human has entered Crisis Think. Some may view these obsessions as ridiculous, but they have their merits. People have, for instance, been distracted from multiple fractures by the fact that they dropped the birthday cake during the accident.
Human Pib, aged seven, was more concerned with their collection of pretty marbles than actual escape. They had, after all, defeated space pirates by making Smores. Coming up with this time's plan would happen just as organically.
They did not plan for their marble bag to tear on a random rivet and send their collection of glass spheres cascading through the air vents.
Fun fact: Air vent purifiers generally purge any organic matter, and boast that they will eliminate problematic particulates. Larger structures, like Cleaners, small animals, larger animals, or -say- inorganic glass spheres that exist to look pretty, are all allowed to pass intact.
Accelerated by the vent fans, they passed intact into several key systems. Because Pirate ships aren't routinely Pib-proofed. There was an unholy noise that sounded exactly like a large number of essential engines encountering small glass spheres in the worst possible places.
Many of the marbles did not survive intact, thus sending showers of glass fragments all over the surrounding areas. Glass fragments that impacted neighbouring systems, equipment, and pirates.
For a change, this did not increase Pib's kill count. Not after they hacked into the PA system to announce, "You have trespassed onto the vessel of the Dread Human Pib. Surrender now, and I may be merciful."
All around the ship, the pirates quickly put their hands on their heads and assumed a vulnerable position.
The Captain would restore their collection after all the mess was cleaned up.
