I actually kinda like this photo. But it could be a bit sharper.
On my attempts to capture people out there in the streets with my camera I've noticed that some bicycles are really fast. And extremely fast when it's dark. For me and my camera.
I am planning on writing to the local newspaper opinion column about the fact that some bicycles are too fast for me. The letter I plan to write with an old fashioned pencil will say: "Some bicycles are too fast for me." It'll be just as important and clear to whom it's mean to as the one I once saw that said: "Neighbor, why do you always have to make your dog bark at night?" And the one that I saw that said: "Nice one car driver. Now my coat is all muddy." And not forgetting the one that said: "I'm never going to buy anything from you again!"
Clear statements that are exactly there where they are supposed to be. In a place where those people who these messages are talking about, recognize themselves and will surely correct their behavior.
So next time I go out there with my camera, some bicycle dude sees me and they will stop and ask: "I noticed your writing in the opinion column and immediately recognized myself and thought that I should find you and do something about this issue. Do you want me to pose for you or drive back and forth this street so that you can get a better photo of me cycling? Just say yes because I will be happy to do that for you."
No more dogs barking at night.
No more cars splashing mud on coats.
No more someone selling something to someone.
Newspaper opinion columns are awesome!
Got almost the whole shadow but not quite.
I was so tempted to remove the sign from the cyclists head with photoshop, but that would have not made that big a difference so why bother.
