Risks abound: They destroy your REM sleep, so you don’t actually get real sleep. They numb and sedate. Studies show they are addictive, so much so for many they have worse withdrawal symptoms than heroin if taken for longer than one month (the longest they are considered safe. )

You should know no pill yet made is absolutely free of side effects. Talking of sleeping pills, there exist the most obvious side effects like dizziness, nausea, vomiting, liver damage (seen with almost any drug); the other specific ones being decreased concentrating ability, amnesia, hallucinations, impaired cognition, confusion and much more. But their incidence has subjective variation.

The ones seen with everyone is dependence and tolerance. Once you start consuming it, you fall in love with the breakless sleep it provides and thus, 'depend' on it. The more you consume it, the more your body learns how to tolerate the drug in body and you'll soon start to consume higher amounts. And finally, the higher amount means more side effects!

In other words, try something else! 75% of people who take them long -term became disabled, often with many illness problems both physical and emotional they didn’t have before taking benzodiazepines. Not worth the risk!
