Hair of the dog, they call dog hair here. It's a good thought that they probably don't know where that phrase originated. Not in the midwest, that's for sure. It came from Russia, with love. As in "I hair of the dog her new coat." Which means, "I love her new coat so much that if I were a dog, I would shed on it." That's how dogs show affection in Russia, by shedding. You though all dogs licked? Nah, that's purely a thing done by dogs who were raised speaking English. In Afghanistan, the dogs show love by hopping on their hind legs, and in Maine (because the Maine dialect can't really be described as English) they show love by wagging their tails. I KNOW! Tail wagging, what a silly thought, but it's true. And in Russia they shed. What, you didn't think dogs could control their shedding? Well, they can't, but they also can't control their licking or wagging. It just happens when they love. The only thing most dogs can control is their ... potty time. They are capable of holding it until they need to.
