As Dwayne wandered down the alley way, in-between the row of houses, he found himself kicking at a tin can that was laying in his path, the tin can made a very satisfying clanging noise as it bounced down the pathway and ricocheted off the fence to his left, bounced a few more time and then came to a halt.
I might just kick this all the way, he thought, as he neared the can again, he let out a big right kick and this time the can launched into the air, bounced off the fence again, Clang Clang Clank it bounced, he must have got a good 30 metres out of that kick.
The day was starting to look up after all, he thought.
Another good kick, this time with his left foot, the can launched, not quite as smoothly, hit the fence to his right and bounced up and over the fence to his left.
He heard the sound of breaking glass and his first instinct was to make a run for it, then he thought, ahh, who cares. No one will know it was me, and it may not have been me anyway, just a coincidence.
He kept walking, pulled his cigarettes out of his pocket, promptly put one in his mouth and lit it. He took a big draw of the smoke and let it out.
He heard a voice behind him, ‘Oy, you, what do you think your doing’.
Without turning round he ran and kept running, the can all forgotten about.
As he reached the end of the Ally way, there was his friend, Banga, ‘Watcha been up to’ Banga asked.
‘Ahh, not much’ Dwayne said.
