It was Wills 6th birthday and he was in his bedroom, surrounded by boxes.
‘It’s not in any of these’ he said to himself. ‘Where is it, I know its here somewhere’
He got up and went to the wardrobe, started to pull things out and toss them onto the floor behind him, the wardrobe was empty.
He couldn’t quite reach the top shelf, so dragged the chair from his desk over to the wardrobe and climbed up.
At the back of the shelf was a small shoe box,
‘It must be in there’, he thought
Grabbing the shoe box, he toppled backwards and fell from the chair.
Thud, as he hit the floor and the contents of the box emptied out all over him. It was very dusty and he sneezed.
Will’s mother came running up the stairs after hearing the thud
‘What on earth is going on’ she said as she burst into Will’s bedroom.
Seeing him on the floor surrounded by all the boxes and mayhem, she instantly began to worry.
‘Are you all right Will’ she said
I’m Ok mum, I just can’t find it, I know it’s in here somewhere’
‘What are you looking for’ she said.
The gate mum, the gate’, just as Will said that, he saw out of the corner of his eye the very thing he was looking for.
‘Aha’, he said as he grabbed it and quickly ran downstairs, his mum in hot pursuit.
Will dashed into the Playroom and promptly put the gate in place.
In front of him was a whole area that had been fenced, with a cottage and horses and a barn, some chickens and a pig or two.
These were all farm animal toys that Will had received as birthday presents each year for 5 years.
Just inside the gate that Will had put in place was a framed photograph of his Grandpa
‘Look Mum, now Grandpa has the Ranch he always wanted’.
