A square is a square and a circle is a circle, Phillip said.
You just cannot get that square peg through that round circle. He Said
He slapped his hands together, not like a clap , but with forces as if it had just hit a barrier.
We were talking about getting Brian to rethink the idea he had about getting his concept for Interstellar travel past the ‘Lecton Corp’.
‘Lecton’ for years had been working on the concept using fossil fuel and Brian’s idea was to use the energy generated by friction to drive the engines.
Interstellar travel had been around for a while now and every person and there parrot had come up with ideas of how ‘They’ could make it better.
Brian’s idea was ‘definitely out there’ but, it might just work.
He would require vast amounts of financial resources though to even start working on a prototype.
The ‘Lecton Corp’ were not that into giving away their resources that easily, or for that matter, outsourcing to a ‘Snogdon’.
Snogdon’s were not seen as the most intelligent of the extraterrestrials, but they were known for innovative ideas, only because they were not from this planet and any idea that was not earth based was innovative.
The ‘Lecton Corp’ had been exploring other planets for two generations now and found ‘Snogdo’ some time ago.
The Snogdon’s were a smallish being with heads no larger than the average human’s hand, and therefore were seen as a lesser species, because us Humans have this harebrained idea that intelligence is determined by head size.
Ha, Phillip thought, that went wrong, just look at the Mecurians, heads the size of elephants but can’t remember one thing from the next.
Brian’s Idea was a good one and somehow we just needed to convince ‘Lecton’ that it was worth pursuing, and to rethink how we could get it past them.
Brian had thought that if he wore extender boots and at least got himself to just slightly taller than human, you know like those Greeks used to do in their statues, and then used one of those new head expanders, all the Snogdon’s were using them, that he would be able to at least get a hearing with the ‘Lecton’ board of collectors.
It was the ‘Lecton’ board of collectors that gave the nod as to whether an idea should be investigated further or not, and this was the only way to do it.
Snogdon’s were so looked down upon that that something had to be put in place for a disguise.
Phillip and Stephen had thought of proposing the idea themselves, but should it have been passed from their presentation, then they would be expected to follow through, and they had nowhere near the understanding that Brian has.
You can’t use a disguise said Phillip, what should happen if you get Itchy ankles from the extender boots, everyone gets itchy ankles, and as soon as you look down to scratch them your head expander will just plop off and they will know you are a Snogdon, and that would be game over from the start.
You cannot put a Square peg through a round hole Phillip said, we will just need to rethink this.
