Sandra Bullock stars in this film—the kind that could only have been made in the 90s. The Net tells the story of a computer programmer who uncovers a secret code and a conspiracy just before heading off on vacation; the people behind the plot realize she has found them out and attempt to eliminate her to keep the secrets from coming to light. She is forced to use her expertise and connections to reclaim her life and expose the dark evidence they are trying to hide.

In this film, computing technology and the misuse of information take center stage in a story packed with intrigue, drama, action, and suspense. It features an impeccable performance by the admired Sandra Bullock in a unique lead role: a woman simply trying to get her life back after being cornered by a criminal organization.

It is well known that the 90s saw the release of some of the greatest suspense, horror, action, and comedy films of all time—classics that we can watch again and again without ever getting bored. Although it has been many years, that decade produced a wealth of perfect, legendary movies. While the 90s won't return, we can take a trip back in time to revisit the films of that era—and the suspense genre is undoubtedly one of the best places to start.

This story is interesting because, at the time, the tech world wasn't as advanced as it is now; yet, it shows us the potential scale of cyberattacks. It was one of the first films to address the dangers of navigating the internet. With a thought-provoking premise, the movie reflects on the risks and reach of cyber-terrorism, the consequences of information falling into the wrong hands, and how technological advancement can often pose a genuine threat to society.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but the plot is certainly entertaining. It features early computer technology—archaic by today's standards—and a mix of thrilling and somewhat slow-paced scenes. Ultimately, it succeeds in its goal: keeping you entertained and in suspense.

If you haven't seen it, it’s a good choice for this weekend
