Hello Hive,
Our prompt #115, this week is about "Harsh Economy".
Hmmmm, the harsh economic situation in my country, Nigeria, has no part two. It's terribly unbelievable and unbearable. The poor are getting poorer. The political rich and wealthy are getting more wealthy, blocking every access and opportunities for both those that has been into good life before, youths and any new entrants never to have chances for survival.
People are desperately hungry, tired and frustrated in this country. Many has left this country and had relocated to many other European countries and Overseas with their family members. We know that, and called it locally ( Jakpa).
This situation has increased to the extent of arousing both forgotten and never known crimes before and so much evils in the land.
**Money almost has lost its values, no market regulations about buying and selling, people sale as they wish to sell. Most of the times, as you are in the market making some purchases you will be thinking someone has stolen your money without knowing that the incredible increases of goods and services have swallowed up your money, no matter the amount of money you managed to come with .
The Nigerian economy is very had, harsh and unbelievably tight, tough and very intimidating...,
People are suffering badly at the moment, Who will now help the society out of this embarrassing situations we have found ourselves?
Evil is on the highest increase
All food items are higher at their selling points,
House rents have tripled in prices, many have relocated back to their villages to keep suffering, some are dying unexpectedly, many are very sick, people are aging faster than the supposed to, due to these terrible hardships everywhere.
School fees from nursery to University levels are extremely high, many parents can't afford to pay school fees again for their children, and wards, the Out of school kids are enormous in the society and in the country. Child labour is in the increase.
The removal of fuel subsidy sky rocketed the Nigerian hardships and hard economy we are into now. Though our economy had never been favourable for so many years before now. Our currency has none, or just a little value in the international levels anymore
Fuel pump is sold at one thousand and three hundred Naira per liter ( #1,300), While Nigeria, my country is an oil producing country. We are number two at the Opec organisation and in their meeting, we have so much wealth, but are terribly suffering economic hardship.... Those that are in charge behave as if they don't understand.
Who will deliver my country from this unfortunate harsh economic situations. Inflation and the tension it has created in the entire country has placed the citizen on the survival of the fitest level, it has as well created fears and unstabilities in the hearts of Nigerians.
So many are barely eating three square meals a day. Some are on zero + one and zero on daily basis. Many people are very sick having no money to buy drugs to get well because of lack and wants, poverty is on a very higher increase. What can we do?.
In our local markets, the commonest commodity garri, and soup ingredients, rice, beans, yams and all food items are terribly costly, even fruits are costly. Can you imagine, that a creet of egg now sells at fife thousand and eight hundred Naira ( #5,800) it was initially sold at one thousand and seven hundred Naira only, (#1,700), can you imagine the difference and the increase because of this harsh economic effects.
WHAT HAVE WE BENEFITED FROM THE HARSH ECONOMIC EFFECTS/ THE ECONOMIC INFLATION;
The wise learn from every situations they find themselves, "wisdom is the skillful application of knowledge". Nigerians have learned so much in the midst of this negative curiosities that has insisted on the citizens.
*We have learned to maximize whatever we have, no more wasting of foods and funds.
*We have learned to survive with any little amounts we find around us and any amount we have we are critically managing it, reasonably.
*We have taken the stance of resilience and self reliance continually, we now insist on family budgeting strictly.
*We have learned how to incorporate multiple jobs into any kind of jobs we have at hand.
*Many have learned, and are doing some other skills to create multiple income basically to stay above this poverty line.
*We have learned to manage as little money as we have properly,
*we have decided to create little family funds aside from ordinary feedings and eatings only.
"Wisdom is the principal thing, in all your gettings, get wisdom"
These and more are the escape routes we have as a people, we have found them and they are sustainable.
