It was 2 on a drizzly Sunday when the FarmBoy started the engine and we drove away from our little kingdom. We cannot postpone the trip despite the weather because we were attending the last night of an aunt's wake. She passed away at the age of 94.
We picked up the FarmBoy's uncle downtown and while there, we were discussing which route to take because there were 2 (they go opposite ways but both can be used for our intended destination). We are very familiar with the first one because we use it every time we go to the city or to our province's capital. And the second, we had a vague idea based on what we heard from my brother who often traveled through going to a far place called Nueva Viscaya.
We tried calling people for confirmation but we couldn't get through to anyone because of the bad network. We then decided to take the road we never traveled before and considered it an adventure.
After half an hour drive, we noticed that the dark fogs have cleared out and the drizzle was gone too. Brilliant! The weather was in our favor!
These are some snaps of the beautiful sky and mountains photographed while the car was running between 40-60kph an hour. Look! There's even a rainbow!
The mountains were breathtaking. This was shaped like a crocodile but I was not able to photograph the whole of it.
We stopped by this bridge for a short break .
It was so high it made my knees tremble looking down. The water on the river was less, indicating that the dry season has started.
Moving ahead, we noticed street arts along the walls of the highway (driver's side) which mesmerized us. We wanted to stop and photograph them but thinking it would make us arrive so late at our intended destination, we decided to just go on.
I managed to snap some while the car was running (please pardon the angles, lol!)
The winding road was quite tricky as it goes up and then down, then up and down again. There were reckless drivers, especially those coming from the opposite lane. The FarmBoy's patience was wearing off that he honked loudly at one who took our lane on a curve and almost hit us.
The early sunset came through the mountains past 5 pm.
It was almost dark when we sighted the dam which was our hint that we almost arrived.
When we reached a crossroad, we were unsure which way to take so the farmboy and the uncle got out to ask for directions. They were told we should take the right which we did but we were feeling odd so the FarmBoy stopped and asked directions from a bunch of kids playing at the side of the road and they pointed in the opposite direction which means we needed to go back. Well, we did and as we headed down, the uncertainty bothered us again and it was just good that there was personnel by the roadside guardhouse whom we inquired and he told us that the place we are seeking is just 3 kilometers ahead.
We were relieved! The kids did send us the right way. We arrived thanking the Heavens for traveling mercies after almost 4 hours on the road.
We then spent the rest of the evening catching up with relatives. We felt so sleepy at 11 pm so we headed to the car and dozed off.
