Magandang buhay 馃挍
Waking up to a bright morning, my feet led me outside to get sun-vit. It's always nice to have some of it when the sun's rays are still gentle for the skin and warming to the soul. The neighborhood is quiet, with just two cars passing by and some dogs barking in the distance.
I thought about taking a little stroll in the backyard, where a few things are growing. The eggplants are still flowering and fruiting. These were the ones given to us last year by the worker down the street. He came with about 10 or 15 stems, and these were the ones that survived.
Some flowers are withering or are rotting, a few fruits have dried up, cracked, or been damaged by pests, which is natural since we don't use chemicals on them.
I used to dislike eggplants (just like lettuce and such) when I was younger, but that changed when I went overseas. The first I've had of it was the Chinese eggplant with garlic sauce, and I loved it (surprising because I don't even like garlic). Now I can eat eggplant dishes, including tortang talong or eggplant omelet.
Anyway, I harvested the bigger ones and will wash and add them to the others in the fridge. They can come in handy when needed.
Meanwhile, the chili peppers growing beside the eggplants (on both ends of the plot) are all ripe, but we let them be. The farm technician picked some last time and said they are not that spicy.
And the mulberry cuttings (given to us by the guesthouse in Ifugao) have grown a little bigger and are fruiting! We haven't found a perfect spot for them, so we still kept them in their pots.
And there go the little treats we have in the backyard. We don't really give them much attention, but nature certainly nourishes them!
