Classes were suspended, and the scheduled hearing at the regional trial court was postponed, so it was another lazy day for us in DD.
The hubby went out for a quick ocular inspection in the morning and came back saying the walkway leading uphill was gone.
"What do you mean by gone?" I was confused for a second. "It eroded." He stated matter-of-factly. I just had to see it for myself since I could not imagine the extent, so I ran outside and found that part of the driveway was obstructed, and the drainage ditch was completely covered. And yep, only a few steps of the pathway remained. Guess it will need to be relocated soon, as it is no longer safe and passable.
It couldn't be helped, especially with the heavy rainfall triggering it. This is the path we use whenever we go for a walk up the hills. It's also where I found the wee fungi kingdom over a year ago, and the wild raspberries I shared some days back.
Anyway, the husband slipped into his raincoat and cleared the debris before midday. The gushing water from the pipe and the rain helped him, by washing away most of the loose soil down to the floodway just across the entrance. It would have taken him longer to clean them if he had done everything himself.
He further checked the surroundings for any other landslides, and thankfully, there were none. Without any worry, we spent the whole afternoon snoozing and staying warm, catching up on the hours of lost sleep in the previous nights, and giving our eyes a good break from the constant screen time.
Our boy enjoyed his downtime too. I planned to give his paw nails a good trim, but seeing him so peaceful in his sleep made me change my mind.
It would be heartless of me to wake him up just for that. And he would probably be upset too. So... tomorrow, maybe. If we won't be heading out elsewhere.
