Yesterday, I received the copies of the first anthology I co-authored. Should I be blissful? I should, right? I mean, there are a lot of aspiring writers who badly want to see their names printed somewhere on the cover of a book.
Yes, I'm more than grateful for seeing my name on the cover, knowing the short story I wrote was among the pages of that book. But why? Why is my limbic system not doing its part? Has it turned numb because of the pain I felt after losing both parents? Or am I just sad because they can't read the story I've written?
Well, I can't say "my heart" should be happy because its main function is to pump blood throughout the body. It is the brain that is responsible for controlling our emotions, anyway. Guess I just have to trick it... I should program my brain to be instantaneously happy for whatever happens, except for the real sad ones of course.
Because of that idea, I decided to give myself a chance on being happy than sulk over spilled milk and missed boats. I spent several hours signing the books to hand them to those people who never stopped believing in me. I want to let them know I am thankful to them for not giving up on me. They don't hesitate on sending uplifting and encouraging messages, despite the pessimistic views I've had.
Oh, yeah. I was supposed to talk about New Year, my bad.
I think welcoming another year is a matter of choice. Whether you celebrate it with joy in your heart or happiness in your brain, it's your decision. But why do you have to choose, when you can do both?
By the way, next month, the second anthology is coming. _
I don't know if I make sense, but, Happy New Year!!!
