What do you do to relax? I go outside to take pictures, I knit, and I crochet whenever I have a free time! Free time for me is when I am not cooking, cleaning, groceries shopping, doing errands, and sitting with my mom! These are my knitted baby hats! All four of them!
Long story short, my mom has dementia, 92 years of age, had heart attack, in hospice home care, so between my brother and I, we have to keep watch on her! These past two weeks, she fell twice so I have to care for her. I brought my remnant yarn along and started on my knitting after I have done what needed to be done with mom.
I started with beanie hats and simple" box-style" hats! But then I got bored with just normal knitting stitches. I wanted some texture and an airy feel to the hats. I set out to find some easy stitches to incorporate into my knitting.
I found this new stitches on YouTube and tried it out! I actually love how easy it is, how airy and the texture once it is on the piece. Not sure what the stitches were called! These stitches seemed to work well with different type of yarn as you can see.
I have a love-hate relationship with remnant yarn! For small projects such as baby hats, mittens, and booties, they are good to make use of, but for bigger projects like shawls, blankets, or scarves, matching the same type of yarn is a JOB!
I love how these baby hats turned out! Not sure what to do with them yet! My new grandson will be living in southern California, and I have sent 2 hats, 2 blankets, 2 pairs of booties and mittens, so I am sure he won't be need more of warm stuffs! However, my niece has hinted that she would love to have some hand knitted and crochet baby things.
I am not worried about these as I can always donate them to the craft sales at my church to benefit single mothers!
