Three weeks is a long time! I mean, it’s 21 whole days. That’s 504 Hours! 30,240 minutes! That’s a pretty long enough time to accomplish something yeah?
I feel like placing people in close proximity leads to the development of what we think is “love”. Love has been said to mean various things to different people and overtime its definition and understanding has kept changing.
The reality tv show "Big Brother" is a good/perfect candidate for an indepth study of human behaviors. Although many will argue that the show is morally useless and meaningless but I’ve come to realize it must be useful afterall (for stuff like this). Locking people together for 90days tends to create out of thin air, feelings of "love" and "affection" that hitherto weren’t in existence. It’s funny because these affairs/relationships rarely last beyond a year.
The same can be said about the National Youth Service Corps program in Nigeria. You put a group of university graduates; grown boys and girls together in a compound for 3 weeks and feelings start to grow.
So my third day in camp I met this guy. He was the coolest friend ever like I was never bored with him. Until the 2nd week in camp he wanted something more serious and started making advances which I turned down. To my surprise he changed, from being the coolest friend to being just a Corp member.
Now my point is, how can you claim to love someone and then just change because you were turned down? Doesn’t that mean you never really loved the person.
What are your thoughts? 😊
