The Garage / El Garaje
The place offers a tour of the most significant cars of the island in the past. It is called "El Garaje" and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm with an additional cost of 15 pesos in local currency, quite accessible and economical, no excuses not to visit it. It is located on San Ignacio Street, between Amargura and Teniente Rey, in the Historic Center of the city, very close to La Plaza Vieja.
One of the most emblematic cars of the capital is that of our historian, which can now be appreciated in the museum and all its history. The 1949 De Soto vehicle was donated in June 2016 to the city historian Eusebio Leal Spengler by the Chicago, United States authorities of the renowned collector Richard Herman Driehaus.

El veh铆culo De Soto 1949 fue donado en junio 2016 al historiador de la ciudad Eusebio Leal Spengler por las autoridades de Chicago, Estados Unidos del reconocido coleccionista Richard Herman Driehaus.

The garage explains that Le Parisienne was the first car introduced in Cuba in 1898 by Jos茅 Mu帽oz. With wick lanterns and benzine as fuel, La Parisenne reached a maximum speed of 12 km per hour with a power of two horsepower.
The second one entered in 1899 and it was thanks to the well-known businessman Ernesto Sarr谩. It was a Rochet and Shneider built in Lyon, which reached a speed of 30 km per hour and had eight horsepower.
Accompanied by photographs of these cars, the poster also talks about the opening of the first garage workshop, where the nickname fotingo comes from, the most representative brands, the model that introduced the first safe automatic transmission and an explanation of the car of La Macorina, the first woman to drive a car in Cuba in 1917.

Following donations from the British Embassy, a 1989 Jaguar Sovereign V12 and a 1980 Daimler Limousine, also on display is the personal car of the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru in Cuba, a Chevrolet Malibu Classic.

The history of the automobile in Cuba is not only in the museum of Old Havana. In every corner of the country there are old vehicles that contribute to make our country a rolling museum. Havana is a living example of this and every day, cars of different brands and years circulate in its streets. It is usual to see a caravan of classic cars full of tourists enjoying our reality. That's how we are, that's Cuba.
La historia del autom贸vil en Cuba no solo est谩 en el museo de La Habana Vieja. Por cualquier rinc贸n del pa铆s hay a帽ejos veh铆culos que contribuyen a que nuestro pa铆s sea un museo rodante. La Habana es vivo ejemplo de ello y a diario, por sus calles, circulan autos de diferentes marcas y a帽os. Es usual ver una caravana de autos cl谩sicos colmados de turistas disfrutando de nuestras realidades. As铆 somos, as铆 es Cuba.
