In Malaysia, we can have really wide range of delicious options for the very first meal of the day!
Nasi lemak is one of the most famous breakfast here in Malaysia. Nasi lemak, is fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk, served with anchovies, fried peanuts, hard-boiled egg, sambal(spicy sauce)and some sliced cucumber.
Kaya butter toasts(Roti kahwin/roti bakar) and Malaysian style half-boiled egg are always my favourite breakfast! I can eat this everyday. Roti kahwin, sliced breads browned on both side, slathered with kaya(coconut egg jam) and butter, and dip into half-boiled egg. Yum!
Kopi-o is Malaysian type black coffee. And my favourite drinks is Teh tarik, rich and creamy milk based tea, which always goes well with any dishes that I have.
My another all time favourite is Roti canai. It is very much loved by Malaysians. Always served with Dahl, curry, and sambal. There are numerous variations of Roti canai like with with eggs(roti telur), with onion(roti bawang), with sardines(roti sardin), with margarine(roti planta). *not sure if I left out any other roti here.
Dim sum. Cantonese style cuisine prepared in small bite sized portion and always served in small bamboo steamer basket or small plates. We usually have it with a pot of hot Chinese tea.
Chinese fried dough, also known as Yao Cha Guai(油条), usually served alongside porridge, also best to eat if dip in Kopi-o! It's simple and so satisfying!
